The Durga Chalisa is the companion piece to the studio’s Hanuman Chalisa edition — the same hand, the same instinct that the verses deserve to be drawn rather than set in type.

Each verse has been calligraphed by hand. The lettering aims to honour the rhythm of the chaupais, with breath and pause built into the spacing. Devotional ornament is restrained on purpose — the text is the point, and the design steps back so the words can carry the weight.

The edition uses paper and binding chosen for daily reading rather than display. It is intended to be lived with — a Chalisa you can pick up, place on the desk, mark with a thumbprint, and return to over the years.
